Entering master's students typically have an undergraduate degree in Composition and have a varied portfolio of several works for different types of ensembles or media.

Music - Music Composition students at Illinois State University regularly receive readings and performances by world-class guest artists and student ensembles, including Illinois State's choral ensembles, Illinois State's Symphony Orchestra and the award-winning Wind Symphony.

have a minimum 2.8 GPA (on a scale in which an A is a 4.0) for the last 60 hours of undergraduate work

present unofficial transcripts from each college or university other than Illinois State at which graduate, undergraduate, or non-degree credit was earned.
