Overview

About the program

The Early Childhood Education Program offers two Masters degrees at the University of Georgia. The Master of Education degree (MEd) is for individuals who already hold teacher certification. The Master of Arts in Teaching degree program (MAT ECCO) is for individuals who wish to gain initial certification to teach PK-5th grades along with earning a Masters degree.

Faculty and students work with projects that integrate research, teaching, and service through community engagement.

Local projects include:

  • Science education professional development projects with surrounding school districts
  • Collaboration with homeschooling families
  • Neighborhood-based education center emphasizing creativity and critical literacies

Our faculty are highly productive, award-winning researchers and teachers. Our grant-funded projects expand knowledge around issues in teaching, learning, and learning to teach in varied contexts.
