Overview

The Early Childhood Education Program offers two Masters degrees at the University of Georgia. The Master of Education degree (MEd) is for individuals who already hold teacher certification. The Master of Arts in Teaching degree program (MAT ECCO) is for individuals who wish to gain initial certification to teach PK-5th grades along with earning a Masters degree.

Earn your MEd in Early Childhood Education through UGA's nationally recognized program. In your studies, you will improve your practice and engage in scholarship to benefit diverse students and families.

We designed the experience for teachers certified in prekindergarten through fifth grade. You may also pursue the MEd if you have another certification or if you are simply interested in childhood education.

The MEd in Early Childhood Education exposes you to a range of skills including classroom teaching, curriculum planning, and research. The design of the degree program will prepare you as a teacher-researcher and help you use best practices to improve student learning.
