The MA in Literature at University of Texas at Dallas provides students with a flexible context in which to pursue research across a wide range of literary traditions, critical approaches and theoretical debates. In addition to coursework in literary studies, students have the opportunity to participate in creative writing and/or literary translation workshops as well as seminars in other disciplines, such as film studies, the history of ideas, philosophy and the visual and performing arts.
Students pursuing the MA in Literature will choose between the professional option (coursework only) and the research option (coursework plus a portfolio). Students who choose the research option may, If their coursework supports it, submit a translation or creative writing project as part of their portfolio.
Graduates of the program seek positions such as: writer, editor, publisher, administrator, translator and critic. Career settings may include higher education, non-profits, cultural and historical organizations, publishing houses, government agencies, international development organizations, museums and archives, business/corporate entities and independent consulting.
