Overview

Coursework

Students must complete 30 credit hours of coursework (10 courses). At least 21 hours must be taken at CU Boulder. All courses must be 5000 level or above. Subject to approval by the Associate Chair for Graduate Studies, up to 6 hours of coursework may be taken in departments other than English. Students may earn the MA in English degree through coursework alone.

Hold or will be receiving a baccalaureate degree from a college or university of recognized standing, preferably with an English major.
Have an overall undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.00.

Submit the following:

Completed online application and submission of application fee payment.
Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary colleges and universities attended.
Critical Writing Sample
Personal Statement. Two pages, double-spaced.
Three letters of recommendation.
The GRE is not required.
