Overview
Building on the dynamic interdisciplinary structure of the School of Arts and Humanities, the program has an integrated curriculum that connects literary, historical, cultural and visual studies.
Students seeking the MA in Latin American Studies at University of Texas at Dallas may thus elect a professional option or a research option. Students with plans for doctoral study should choose the research option. Both options require students to demonstrate proficiency in an approved foreign language and to complete an approved internship or study abroad. The research option also requires completion of a capstone project.
Career Options
Graduates of the program seek positions such as: teacher/educator, writer, editor, historian, legal/policy administrator, non-profit manager and other advanced positions in research or professional practice. Career settings may include higher education, non-profits, cultural and historical organizations, government agencies, international development organizations, publishing houses, museums and archives, business/corporate entities and independent consulting.
