About

The Master of Arts in Special Education is a practical, teacher-oriented program designed for general education teachers, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, behavior analysts, and other professionals seeking initial, additional, or advanced study in working with students with disabilities.  

Overview

Students acquire an understanding of learning theories, special education policies, research-validated instructional strategies, and behavior analytic practices needed to work with students with disabilities and their families.

The mission of the Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching is to:

GRE admission requirements GRE® The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. It contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.

TOEFL admission requirements TOEFL® IBT The TOEFL iBT® is given online through the internet at designated testing site. The test measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The score refers to the total score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading), each subject has a range of 0 - 30.

General requirements

Applicants without adequate preparation in education may be required to complete preparatory courses as a condition of admission. Individuals who do not meet the University-wide graduate admission grade point average standard may be required to submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores for consideration in admission decisions. Some concentrations may also require GRE scores because of licensing regulations. International students must have a minimum score of 79 on the TOEFL Internet-based test, 550 on the TOEFL paper-based test, or 6.5 on the IELTS.
