I'm greatly excited and positive about my decision and admission to the University of Turku, Finland. The University of Turku provides a very smooth, welcoming, professional, and supportive research-oriented environment for international students. Initially, I was reluctant for a few reasons; the top one was the language barrier. But learning Finnish is a very easy and friendly task. I learned it in a few months. There are many reasons to choice University of Turku, a few are 1. Highly professional, well trained faculty, truly committed with research beyond any preferences (gender, race or status), 2. Finland's environment, peoples attitude and overall tendency is really outstanding towards international students. 3. No any kind of fee for doctorate/ PhD studies in the whole country for all students (national and international). 4. University provides excellent academic opportunities, state of the art facilities, supportive and collaborate environment that boost personal learning and growth.
The campus is quite large, so the availability of parking spaces really depends on which building you are visiting. Turku as a city also relies heavily on public transportation rather than individual cars. Overall, it is a great and active university where I have always felt supported and understood. Studying here helped me discover my passion for pursuing an academic career.

UTU International Office is responsible for the administration and support of incoming and outgoing students and staff.
We are responsible for the mobility agreements and cooperation with our partner universities abroad. The International Office administers and coordinates several international programmes and projects. We administer grants mostly for outgoing students and staff.
The housing situation in Turku is relatively good and student appartments are of easy walking, cycling or a bus ride distance from the campus.
It is your responsibility to arrange accommodation for yourself. University of Turku cannot unfortunately guarantee or arrange housing for students and therefore we recommend that you apply housing well in advance, observing the deadlines set by individual housing providers.
In future, Turku University Library will consist of six libraries with equal status. As recently as 2010, the University Library had 17 libraries on the Turku campus. One of these is the former main library, located on the University Hill, and after the reform it will be renamed as Feeniks Library.
You can access the wireless network anywhere on campus. There are two networks: UTU Visitor for Visitors and Eduroam.
All students are recommended to have a valid health insurance during their studies in Turku. Only with proper health insurance can all the costs be covered if you become ill during you stay in Finland.
The Turku Campus of the University of Turku is located close to the city centre and the Aura river nearby the other higher education institutions, Turku Science Park companies, and the Turku University Hospital. The campus area extends from Turku Cathedral all the way to the Kupittaa railway station.
CampusSport offers sports services for the students and staff of the higher education institutions in Turku.
The Student Union of the University of Turku (TYY, Turun yliopiston ylioppilaskunta) is a public corporation completely independent of the University of Turku. The membership fee of the Union is compulsory to all students.
