History
North Central College was founded in 1861, during the Civil War. We were called Plainfield College then, and we were one of the few colleges welcoming women as well as men. From the very beginning we set ourselves apart as an institution committed to wisdom as well as knowledge.
Education
North Central College offers more than 90 majors, more than 60 minors, 22 graduate degree programs and six certificate programs—so you’ll have the best chance to find what fits. Our degree programs will help you open your mind, push yourself and get ready for what comes next. It’s all about you. Here, we will help you exceed your personal best!
Research
Whether preparing an honors thesis, obtaining a grant or just following your research muse, independent study lets you work one-on-one with your professor. North Central student Jack Ryan used his talent for computer science and love of the theatre to create an analytic predictor of Broadway’s Tony Awards.
Summer break could be your opportunity for a one-of-a-kind research adventure. That’s what four North Central biology majors recently enjoyed in the Bahamas aboard a research vessel. The students joined with conservation experts from Chicago’s world-renowned Shedd Aquarium to study marine ecosystems. This type of hands-on experience in original field research brings the world to your major course of study.

Undergraduate review
Queens is a great uni to study! I spent 4 years in Kingston and would never regret of choosing Queens for my undergraduate academic life. All the prof are super supportive and helpful. One thing I would recommend is to have more career related events for the art and sci student
Solid choice for transfer students
The transfer programs are great for students who want to save money. The new facilities that they've just built are great and everything is clean etc. The gym could be upgraded though as its pretty small, and there isn't much weight machines or bar bells
Seek out Queen’s resources
Great school, but need to reach out to realize all of the available resources. There are a lot of opportunities but they are not all accessible. I would recommend Queen's to anybody who is both passionate about academics but is also very social involved and inclined to join social groups and clubs.

Campus life
One of the best parts about attending North Central is living in Naperville. Located just steps away from Downtown Naperville, living here provides quick access to all that the vibrant city has to offer. With its small-town charm, abundant green spaces, unlimited shopping, and an unbeatable food scene, as a Cardinal you will be right at home in Naperville!
Sports facilities
Named for legendary North Central head men's cross country and track and field coach Al Carius, this state-of-the-art competition venue features a six-lane, 200-meter track, three pole vault runways and two long/triple jump pits as part of a 90,000-square-foot recreation facility which also includes an elevated walking track, four multipurpose athletic courts, locker, athletic training facilities, a video scoreboard, and a fitness center. The facility is located within the Residence Hall/Recreation Center east of Merner FIeld House.
Student clubs
Among the most important lessons you’ll learn at North Central are those that take place outside the classroom. Learn leadership skills as you join others in one of more than 100 student organizations. Make music with a jazz combo, express yourself on award-winning WONC radio, take a stand at the Model UN, or invite fellow students into a club of your own creation.
All students can participate in activities hosted by registered student organizations, funded through the required Student Activity Fee.
Accreditation
Accreditation is a quality assurance process that involves an evaluation of a college or program within a college by an external organization to determine if applicable standards are met. When an institution meets those standards, accredited status is granted by the agency. North Central College, as an institution, is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. It is also affiliated with the United Methodist church. In addition, many academic programs meet the rigorous standards necessary to be accredited by other outside organizations.
