Good health means global health. For the TUM School of Life Sciences, “One Health” is the mission to improve global health on our planet. Climate change, population growth and dwindling resources as well as the related challenge of food security require real innovations. Only if the interactions between humans, animals, plants, microorganisms, soil and the environment are fully functional can the world remain healthy and viable into the future

Scientists from various disciplines are therefore cooperating and collaborating at the TUM School of Life Sciences. Their interdisciplinary research includes topics from the fields of living environments, agriculture and forestry, food and nutrition etc.

Student services

  • WZW Buddy Program: Internationality is an elementary part of scientific education and scientific work. Every semester, many students of the TUM School of Life Science (WZW) go out into the world voluntarily or as part of their study program. In return, the WZW attracts students from all over the world to Freising. The international students who come to Freising for an exchange semester or a regular study program make up about 20 percent of the student body. The WZW Buddy Program enables international and experienced TUM students to benefit from each other.
  • Our academic counselors and course coordinators are pleased to advise students and applicants on all matters relating to the courses

Housing services

Finding accommodation in the Munich area isn’t easy.   In Munich, Freising  (and Rosenheim),  the student union STUDENTENWERK offers  affordable  rooms and apartments for students;  the rental costs in Freising   are around  €260 per month depending on the type of room but the high demand for such rooms produces  waiting times between one and four semesters, depending on the halls of residence and locations.

Medical services

Doctors have different opening times and are generally closed on Wednesday afternoons. It is advisable to make an appointment by telephone.  In urgent cases you can see a doctor during consultation hours, but there may be long waiting times.  I

Campus life

The location is a closed campus on the outskirts of the town of Freising, which means that all lectures and seminars can normally be reached within a few minutes on foot. Three bus stops provide connections to the public transport system, which takes you to the town center in about five minutes.

The designation “Green Center” is related not only to the numerous course-offers, but also to the campus itself.

The Weihenstephan campus isn’t only home to the TUM (Technische Universität München) but also to other research institutes: the University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf, the Bavarian State Research Center for Agriculture, the Bavarian State Research Center for Forestry etc.
