Throughout our history, we have worked to provide students with a mature voice for Pentecost. The roots are planted firmly in the Church of God and Pentecostal traditions, and we are constantly seeking to explore the depths of Christianity through these roots.

About

History

The story began in 1975 when General Overseer Wade H. Horton presided as our first president. In 1976, we sent our first class of graduates into the world, and the PTSeminary tradition of kingdom-enriching alumni began.

Education

The mission of the Pentecostal Theological Seminary is to form, support, and resource women and men for Holy Spirit-filled, Holy Spirit-led Christian ministry in today’s world. The Seminary is dedicated to carry out this task as an act of obedience to God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. 

Career

PTSeminary is the denominational seminary for the Church of God, headquartered in  Cleveland, TN. The Seminary understands itself to be the church gathered for theological education in the Wesleyan-Pentecostal tradition. PTSeminary is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS) to offer 6 Master’s and 1 doctoral degree programs.

Library services

The Centre for Pentecostal Theology is a residential library dedicated to facilitating the conception, birth, and maturation of constructive Pentecostal Theology across the theological disciplines.

Accreditation

  • The Seminary is sponsored by the Church of God headquartered in Cleveland, Tennessee and operates under a charter of incorporation from the state of Tennessee and Bradley County. The School and its programs are approved by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. 
  • The Pentecostal Theological Seminary is accredited on all campuses by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the Master of Arts in Church Ministries, Master of Arts in Counseling, Master of Arts in Discipleship and Christian Formation, Master of Divinity, and Doctor of Ministry degrees.
