In the 1930s, the University's name was changed to the University of Portland, the St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing became part of the University as the College of Nursing, and the School of Business was created.
In 1948, the School of Engineering was created. The University established its Graduate School in 1950 and the School of Education in 1962.

To meet current and future needs of the University’s academic community, resource selection and collection maintenance are focused on building and sustaining collections,and securing access to resources that complement and support the degree programs offered. The Library has over 220,000 print volumes and provides access to over 17,000 eBooks,120 databases and approximately 20,000 online journals.
The Help Desk provides tier one technical support to members of the University of Portland community. We provide complete support for UP-owned computer hardware. The close-knit, supportive residence hall community offers students a place to live and work that distinctly enhances their college experience by putting them at the center of everything: classes and labs, the library, recreational facilities, campus ministry, volunteer service opportunities, and more.
Recreational Services offers several programs to meet your recreation needs including intramural sports, outdoor pursuits, and fitness classes. The Beauchamp Recreation & Wellness Center is the center for fitness and wellness on campus, and it features cardio and weight training areas, fitness studios, basketball and volleyball courts, a rock wall, and an indoor track. Formed in 2003, the club is a fully recognized and funded student organization with its own by-laws and elected student officers. Club functions include attendance at professional seminars, sponsoring guest speakers on campus, and community service activities. Through the regularly scheduled club meetings, students have a direct means of sharing their concerns about the curriculum and program and of participating in its design. The club also serves as the mechanism for representation by a student at social work faculty meetings. Dr. Rogers serves as the advisor to the club. The club also serves as a departmental supplement to the Social Sciences Club.
