The roots of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary reach back over 100 years to two urban East Coast schools: the Boston Missionary Training Institute and the Temple Program in Philadelphia.The two schools shared much in common. It was the late 1800s and immigrants were pouring into their cities, only to discover little access to education.
Underpinning the education at both schools was a biblical foundation that still animates our seminary today: a common commitment to the authority of Scripture, the experience of the new birth in Christ, biblical orthodoxy centered in Christ and the Incarnation, and the great theme of missions.

There are four dormitories on campus – three for men and one for women. Dormitory rooms for single students include large and small single rooms and double rooms, which are shared by two students. All dormitory rooms come with 300 meal points, which can be used in the cafeteria for breakfast or lunch.
The library is designed to support the training of theological students from an evangelical perspective. Collecting areas include philosophy of religion, biblical studies, church history, theology, pastoral ministry, counseling, world missions, and evangelism. Special attention is given to the evangelical tradition, especially in New England.
At Gordon-Conwell, all students registered for 6+ credits at both Hamilton and Boston must enroll in or waive out of the Student Health Plan each academic year. The Student Health Plan for the 2021-2022 Policy Year is a Blue Care Elect Preferred (PPO) Plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
