About
History
In the 1960s, civic leaders in Hampton Roads sought to improve care in the region and created a bold dream to build a medical school. Thanks to determination and community commitment, EVMS opened its doors in 1973, forever transforming the landscape of health care in Hampton Roads.
Education
Eastern Virginia Medical School is dedicated to medical and health education, biomedical research, and the enhancement of health care in the Hampton Roads region.
EVMS' School of Health Professions provides progressive, nationally recognized graduate training at facilities throughout Hampton Roads.
Research
EVMS Research provides coordination for research committees, organizes Research Day, administers intramural funding and assists with funding opportunities, research compliance and training.

Best Global Universities Rankings by U.S. News & World Report presents all the top universities from the U.S. and 60 other countries around the world. They measure the rate of students going to their second year of studies, as well as the rate of students who graduate. It also asks university representatives on the performance of universities, and evaluates university resources, teacher salaries, graduation rates, student academic achievements and satisfaction. After calculating and comparing these criteria, U.S. News ranks the top international universities accordingly.

The Student Loan Office of Eastern Virginia Medical School is responsible for the disbursement and collection of school-administered loans to include the following:

Housing services
EVMS Campus Housing is affordable, spacious, clean, and of course, in a great location. It meets the needs of the everyday student. The staff is extremely courteous and caters to our needs. Last year I found myself needing to find housing fast. The staff was able to quickly find me a roommate. It was great to be matched with a roommate because it made my experience and transition to EVMS and Norfolk easier and more comfortable.
Library services
The Edward E. Brickell Medical Sciences Library has Wi-Fi throughout the facility, which can be accessed by EVMS faculty, students and staff with EVMS Novell passwords. Before devices can connect to EVMS Wi-Fi, they must be configured by the Network Information Center (NIC).

With over 150 healthcare professionals at more than 20 locations, EVMS Medical Group provides exceptional medical care to you and your family.
Student Life
Campus life
Centrally located on the East Coast, EVMS serves the southeastern region of Virginia known as Hampton Roads. The region comprises seven cities: Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Hampton and Newport News.
Sports facilities
EVMS Wellness promotes and guides opportunities for the EVMS community to engage in healthy behaviors through strategies that:
