Where will a Loyola Law degree take you? Anywhere you want to go.Whether you are a full-time, part-time, non-traditional, or international student, Loyola has the resources to train you in civil or common law and gives you a world of flexibility to practice in Louisiana, across the country or around the globe.

History

In 1914, the Loyola College of Law opened its doors and has been opening the minds of future law professionals ever since. Here, in the halls and classrooms of the college’s Uptown New Orleans campus, we further the Jesuit tradition of academic rigor, pursuit of justice, and service to others through our ABA-accredited civil and common law programs.

Education

We know that students have their own unique paths. That’s why the Loyola College of Law offers a wealth of options to fit each student’s goals.

We are one of the few schools in the country that offers curricula in both civil and common law, giving you options of practicing law in Louisiana, across the country, or around the world. Three joint degree programs and nine certificates in specialized fields will give you the knowledge and credentials you need to practice the type of law that interests you most. And because we know that for some students going to law school full-time is not an option due to life's demands, we offer part-time night and day programs so you can get your degree on your terms.

Career

We assist students in discovering their strengths and pursuing a plan for applying them beyond the university. And we partner with a wide diversity of employers—through job postings, career fairs, on-campus interviews, and professional development events—to connect Loyola students with internships, part- and full-time jobs, and graduate schools. We encourage every student to make use of our services, early and often, online and in person.

Student services

University life presents a number of choices, challenges, and pressures—some exciting, some stressful. We support all our students with free, confidential professional counseling services around issues of stress, depression, anxiety, academic motivation, relationships, and more. We also provide counseling and education to prevent and cope with substance abuse and sexual assault.

Library services

The Loyola Law Library features a comprehensive collection of federal and state legal research sources, specific subject materials, foreign, international, comparative and civil law materials, and law-related books all specially curated for our diverse programs of study. Utilize our online research tools or visit the library and let our experienced law librarians help you find the materials you need.

Medical services

We provide primary care treatment for and education about personal health issues for all Loyola students—residential and non-residential, full-time and part-time—that provide a complete medical history form. Treatment in our office is confidential and free, though patients are responsible for any prescriptions, lab work, x-rays, or referred hospital services.

Sports facilities

Club Sports are self-organized and self-run university chartered student organizations that are sponsored by the Department of Student Involvement. They are designed to serve individual interests in different sports and recreational activities, and can be competitive, non-competitive or instructional in nature.

Learn a new sport or improve your fitness level or skills, join one of the many programs offered each year. Programs are offered to members free of charge. The programs are an example of what is offered based on space and instructor availability: fitness testing, group exercise classes, personal training, pilates, swim instruction, and yoga.
