In 1852 the Bath School of Art was established after the Great Exhibition, and there begins our long and prestigious history. The School enjoyed a reputation as one of the leading art schools in the country, and some of Britain’s best known artists, including Walter Sickert and Howard Hodgkin, studied and taught at what was to become the Bath School of Art and Design.

At Bath Spa University, we know education - we’ve been inspiring students, teachers and other education professionals since 1946.

We work with fantastic colleges, both in the UK and overseas, so that you can benefit from a broader range of courses, diverse facilities, and specialist staff - no matter which field of study you choose.

Our excellent research is novel and crosses disciplines; we value both making and the links between thinking and doing. We welcome the diversity of our students, and their multiple narratives, and we are a place where students change their lives and change the world.

Our Careers team are here to help you plan your future, make the best use of your time as a student and advise you on how to work towards your personal, career goals.
