EU citizens from Western Europe do not need visas: valid passports alone are required. EU citizens from Eastern Europe and non-EU citizens should contact the Swiss Embassy or Consulate about whether entry permits and visas are required. Any costs incurred are borne by the student.Generally, your stay in Switzerland will be permitted on the basis of a student visa. This does not permit you to work in Switzerland. Foreign nationals require separate permission to work alongside their studies. If approval is forthcoming, it is generally for no more than 15 hours a week. The approval process differs from canton to canton depending on the applicant's nationality.
