Today RUDN University is one of the leading state higher educational institutions of Russia. It is the only university in the world every year uniting students from 145-150 countries. 



RUDN University was founded on 5th February, 1960 by the USSR Government. On 22nd February, 1961, the RUDN University was named after Patrice Lumumba — one of the symbols of the African peoples’ fight for independence.


Multi-level higher education system: Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD programs, medical residency.


Priority directions:

  • Fundamentalization of research, attraction of young researchers, integration of scientific-research and academic work, developing R&D infrastructure, supporting existing scientific schools and creating new ones.
  • Effective use of RUDN-University scientific and technical potential in the framework of applied research and private and state partnership.
  • Commercialization of intellectual activity results, technologies transfer and development of micro-entrepreneurship in science and technology.


Coordination of temporary and permanent employment:

  • employ students and graduates,
  • cooperate with Department of Labour and Occupation of Moscow;
  • organize Career Expo;
  • attract potential partners, interested in employing PFUR students;
  • consult students and help in choosing professional career (holding psychological tests, training for interviews);
  • cooperate with organizations and businesses to work on start-up projects;

Library services

  • AILC (AL) comprises 5 libraries at faculties in different University buildings with more than 2 million books in 60 languages. Electronic collection includes audio-, videomaterials and universal and thematic databases.

Medical services

University started the program “Student health” which has become a new turn in the system of student healthcare service, drug and HIV infection prevention attempts. Students undergo regular check-ups in the university polyclinic. In accordance with the Rector’s order and the approved schedule, once a year students of all faculties/institutes have to undergo prophylactic medical examination.

Student Life

Campus life

The students’ campus is situated in the south-west of Moscow in one of the best places for study and leisure. The Hostels are situated in 5-storey, 16-storey and 18-storey buildings offering double and triple rooms, costing from 540 to 2640 conventional units per year including water and electricity, furniture, cooking and washing facilities. The rooms have connections to the internet, satellite TV and telephone.

Sports facilities

  • Football and baseball stadium hosting 300 people;
  • 2 covered artificial turf fields for mini-football;
  • 2 sport halls (each 680 square meters);
  • Run track;
  • 6 open air and 3 covered tennis courts, 6 covered tennis courts in “Megasphera”;
  • 4 halls for athletic gymnastics (2 female, 2 male);
  • 2 fitness halls;
  • Ski’s (450 pieces);
  • 2 basketball and volleyball grounds in “Megasphera”;
  • Football-hockey rinks;
  • Badminton area;
  • Chess-club;
  • Cardio area: 10 athletic tracks, 4 elliptical machines and 10 stationary bicycles.
