Overview

You can choose to translate new technologies into useful everyday products and systems, or to focus on innovating on a community level, aimed at solving major societal issues.

Ever since its start, the Industrial Design department has used a unique, self-directed, competence-focused educational approach. From your first day, you will be encouraged to develop your own vision and professional identity as a designer. 

The  Industrial Design program at  Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e)  only has two mandatory courses; you can choose rest of the program based on your vision and ambitions. 

Career

As a graduate of the Industrial Design master’s degree program, you are a unique designer, entrepreneur or researcher with a lot of initiative. 

Our alumni distinguish themselves with their pro-active, hands-on attitude, with prototyping as an essential part of their design and research process. 

An Industrial Design engineer has the capacity to integrate multiple disciplines and come up with functional solutions.

TOEFL admission requirements TOEFL® IBT The TOEFL iBT® is given online through the internet at designated testing site. The test measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The score refers to the total score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading), each subject has a range of 0 - 30.

General requirements

A bachelor in Industrial Design or equivalent (e.g. bachelor TU Delft, Univ.. Twente; pre-master)

In order to be admitted to the Master program Industrial Design, you will need skills and knowledge in:

  • Social Sciences (e.g. user research, psychology, consumer behavior)
  • Design (e.g. design research process, aesthetics, ideation)
  • Engineering (e.g. mathematics e.g. data science, programming, electronics)
  • Business and marketing (e.g. entrepreneurship, value proposition)

The number of expertise areas in which the student has expertise are not applied strictly as requirement (however, the more areas the student has covered, the better the match).

Funding

Various scholarships are open to students wishing to follow a Master's program at Eindhoven University of Technology. A requirement of most scholarships is that you have been admitted to a Master's program before you may apply to the scholarship.
