About

The University of Colorado Denver, Department of Electrical Engineering requires a candidate to complete within a 7-year period an approved program of study consisting of at least 30 semester hours, maintaining a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Overview

There is no specific curriculum for the MS degree in Electrical Engineering except for a breadth requirement, and the student, with the assistance of his/her Advisory Committee, is free to choose that combination of courses. Skill-based programming language courses will not count toward the total graduate credits needed for the master of science degree. Students must see their graduate or master’s thesis advisor to register for any course outside the CU Denver Electrical Engineering Department, which is to count toward their master of science of electrical engineering credit requirements.

The program offers two plans: Plan One, Master's Thesis, and Plan Two, Course Only Track. In each plan, the student must complete 30 graduate credit hours. To satisfy the breadth requirement, the student is required to take two courses outside the area of specialization. A minimum of 21 credit hours must be from CU Denver Electrical Engineering Department. Students in the master of science program may take one (1) independent study course for a maximum of 3 credit hours toward their degree.

Accreditation

The electrical engineering BSEE program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
