Architectural conservation ensures our historical buildings and built environment are protected for future generations.

You will study in the beautiful medieval city of Canterbury, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will benefit from engagement with our rich local heritage and environment.

The city’s stunning cathedral provides a hands-on education resource and learning environment. Special lectures are delivered by the conservators of Canterbury Cathedral, as well as our highly regarded academics and industry practitioners.

The programme provides a thorough understanding of architectural heritage and develops the skills required to contribute to the repair, reconstruction, and preservation of historic sites.

You will gain professional experience with live projects, site visits and sessions with industry practitioners ensuring you have the skills and experience needed for your future career.

General requirements

A first or second class honours degree in architecture or a related discipline (eg, engineering, surveying, planning, geography, archaeology, art history, heritage management). Applicants may be required to attend an interview or to submit a portfolio showing aptitude for the subject and appropriate ability.
Applicants who are unable to attend an interview will be asked to send a portfolio or sample of their written work.
