Food production has, in many circumstances, become as industrialized as possible, with those responsible focusing more on the quantitative aspects of the process than on the quality of the products. The complexity of food chains is increasing, resulting in multiple interactions that can pose risks to consumers, whose control is thus becoming more difficult.
The multidisciplinary training provided by the Master's program in Food Technology and Safety enables graduates to work in pioneering areas, using new, more sustainable technologies, including nanotechnology, and seeking to address current global challenges.
The Master's program in Food Technology and Safety is characterized by an integrated and responsible approach, playing a decisive role today in supporting the agri-food sector, ensuring food safety and quality, innovating and developing technologies that enable the sector to keep up with market trends.

Holders of a Bachelor's degree of the 1st cycle, or equivalent, containing 120 credits in the Mathematics and Statistics fields;

Holders of a foreign degree, or equivalent, in the same scientific area conferred following the 1st cycle of studies according to the Bologna Process;

Holders of a foreign academic degree in required area recognized as meeting the objectives of the Bachelor´s degree by the Scientific Council of the FCT NOVA.

Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out a referred cycle of studies by the Scientific Council of the FCT NOVA;
