Overview
The programme features a multi-disciplinary curriculum that draws on insights across a range of disciplines and prepare students to be able to extract information from real-world data sets using the latest tools and analytical methods, as well as to interpret and communicate their findings in ways that change people’s minds and behavior.
Students will have a total of 4 fundamental courses taught by the Faculty of Science and Technology on big data theory, excavation and analysis techniques etc. and further learn and study how big data can be practically and effectively applied in their specialization.
There are two campuses for this programme:
1. Main campus: Macau, China
2. Transitional Research and Education Site of University of Macau : Hengqin, China

General requirements
- An applicant of a Master’s degree programme must possess a Bachelor’s degree or academic background recognized as equivalent by the University of Macau. An applicant may also be required to possess other knowledge or professional experience.
- Applicants should have achieved the equivalent* of an overall result of Grade C+ or better in the Bachelor’s degree studies. (Except for the Faculty of Law)
- The equivalent means 2.3 on the 4.0 GPA scale, 14 on the 20-point scale or 70 out of 100.
Work experience
Applicants with 2 years or above full-time work experience will be given priority.

Living costs
Macau
The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
Funding
In order to welcome more outstanding international students to pursue their studies at UM, the University has established the International Student Scholarship which provides tuition and accommodation fee waiver for the awardees during their normal period of study (subject to annual continuation).
Master’s Degree Scholarship Package
Type A Scholarship:
- 100% waiver of Master’s Degree Programme tuition fee
- 100% waiver of on-campus accommodation fee (shared bedroom)
- Half teaching assistantship (MOP 4,000/month)
Type B Scholarship:
- 100% waiver of Master’s Degree Programme tuition fee
Type C Scholarship:
- International tuition differential waiver (awardees pay the local student tuition rate of MOP 48,900/year for the full programme during 2 years)
