Overview

The Computer Science (Joint Degree UvA-VU) - International track - Software Engineers for Green Deal course at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is an International Master’s programme for students in Computer Science, specializing in Software Engineering. The SE4GD aims at educating software engineers with a sustainability mindset to improve the well-being of people through software solutions. Admitted students spend one semester at each host university (respectively, semester 1 at University of L’Aquila in Italy, semester 2 at Lappeenranta University of Technology in Finland, and semester 3 at VU Amsterdam. Finally, semester 4 is dedicated to the Master's project which can be carried out at one of the host universities or one of the SE4GD associated partners.

Almost all our graduates embark on careers in areas like consultancy, software, other private-sector businesses or government bodies. Computer scientists are in high demand for a variety of roles, including software-, web- or systems engineer, data warehouse consultant, user interface designer, systems manager, IT project manager, IT consultant, information analyst and policy advisor.

Many alumni now work at companies in the Netherlands or abroad, ranging from small, focused enterprises to the global technology leaders. Others have formed their own startup companies.

Your previous education needs to be deemed equivalent to at least a Dutch academic Bachelor’s degree obtained at a research university (nominal duration 3 years).
