Overview
In the Chemistry (Joint Degree UvA-VU) - Chemistry of Life course from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam integrates the study of chemistry and biology, but at its core is still chemistry-focused. This distinguishes it from many other programs available, that have biology or biochemistry at the core, or have a more biomedical application focus. Courses cover how chemical knowledge can enrich biological studies, how biological techniques can be used in the production of molecules, and how biomolecules can be better understood using models of chemical interactions. Integration of chemical and biological/biochemical knowledge is a highly sought after combination for which there is currently a great demand in the labour market, from biotech companies to pharmaceutical companies to traditional chemical industry giants.
