Overview
Farming and food systems in Europe and abroad are increasingly recognised as closely linked with environmental, social and ethical issues. The challenges arising in the interface between food production and society in Europe contain many generic traits that also occur in many parts of the world. The multiple cultures, languages and political systems in Europe make this an ideal place for students to experience first hand some of these challenges and potential solutions that could be applied in their home situation.
The study programmes are aimed at international students with a strong interest in sustainable agriculture, agroecosystem management, and sustainable food systems. Students will get the opportunity to understand structure and function of complex agroecosystems. They will learn to apply a systems approach in studying, designing and evaluating agricultural systems and food production chains. The programme teaches a multidisciplinary, experiential learning approach in which natural sciences are combined with social sciences.
The European MSc Agroecology is a two-year program (120 ECTS), professionally oriented, to study interactions among agricultural, food and environmental sciences in a socially oriented and action driven perspective.
Agroecology is the interdisciplinary science that provides information, methods of analysis, evaluation and improvement to promote the development of secure and sustainable food systems.
