Overview
Upon completion of the Counseling Psychology Graduate Certificate from Indiana Tech, students will be prepared to:
- Demonstrate effective use of the APA format in professional and academic writing.
- Consider the value of respecting diversity and individual differences and their importance to the welfare of all persons served.
- Analyze counseling theory and approaches.
- Differentiate the signs and symptoms of psychological disorders and problems of clinical concern in the DSM.
Counseling Psychology is one of only three fields in psychology specifically focused on providing clinical therapeutic interventions, psychoeducation and case management designed to address personal, family or emotional problems that affect clients. Indiana Tech�s Counseling Psychology Graduate Certificate program enables students to expand their knowledge and skills, and demonstrate their focus and commitment to this vital field.
During the program, students will engage in coursework centered on professional writing using the American Psychological Association (APA) format; psychopathology and the signs and symptoms of various forms of mental illness; psychological therapies useful in addressing clinical problems; and the value of considering the diversity of others and how it impacts therapeutic interventions.
