Overview
The human body continuously responds to changes in its mechanical environment. This response is highly complex and occurs at all levels in the body: cells, tissues, organs, and the entire body. This field of expertise is especially fascinating because of the ability of biological systems to adapt to mechanical forces by adjusting their structure, composition and function.
Through the Biomedical Engineering - Mastertrack Biomechanics and Mechanobiology MSc programme from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) we apply the basic principles of fluid dynamics, mechanics and biology to study biomedical problems and systems. We specifically focus on developing models of disorders of the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems. We study the influence of biomechanics on the pathology, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disease.
Career opportunities:
- With your way of thinking and your skills, you have the perfect background to find a job as (bio)medical engineer. People in the world are getting older and older. This increases the demand for innovative biomedical solutions. Expectations are that the demand for biomedical engineers will stay in the job market. After acquiring a Master's degree in Biomedical or Medical Engineering, there is a broad perspective in job offers. Besides becoming a researcher, you could for example become a developer, project manager, teacher, consultant or business developer.
- Graduates can work among others at universities, in hospitals, in pharmaceutical companies or engineering companies.
