Overview
During the first year dedicated to Electrical engineering for Communications, the student will choose a major in Microelectronics that addresses CMOS integrated technologies and the emergence of the micro/nano technologies, as well as the complexity of today’s integrated systems.
The Integration, Circuits and Systems (Year 2) program at Institut Polytechnique de Paris covers new technological possibilities including the implementation of high-performance, high-value, multi-domain integrated systems. It provides students with training to address system performance optimization based on specifications obtained by co-designing the different parts. This requires a good knowledge of all the devices used in the system.
The second year program encompasses diverse courses, a project and an internship of 4 to 6 months in industry. During this lab experience, students will be immersed in their field of choice and interact with top-level researchers from one of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris laboratories.
Students interested early on by research are advised to apply for a PhD Track in this field (combined Master and PhD). It enables a personalized master program, early immersion in research labs and a progressive development of the thesis studies.
Career
After graduation, students could pursue an industrial or academic career:
- Position in an industry research and development department in microelectronics or broader fields of analog or digital electronic systems design for applications like embedded systems, smart sensors, instrumentation and telecommunications
- PhD studies in microelectronics or other fields studied in the chosen major: microsystems, nano-architectures, embedded systems, RF systems, high-performance Data Converters or hardware-based signal processing
