Studienstiftung is the largest and oldest German sponsorship organisation for the academically gifted, promoting future excellence, funding, foundation, scholars.
If you are interested in economic issues and would like to gain additional qualifications for the international job market, the Haniel scholarship programme is just right for you. The prerequisite is a degree; the field of study is not specified.
The programme consists of postgraduate studies abroad and an internship of at least two months. Both have to be organised by the applicants themselves in advance. In addition to classic projects such as MBA or LL.M. programmes, people with their own ideas are also very much in demand. In the past, for example, an architect has already been sponsored for a Master's in Real Estate Development at Columbia University in New York, or an Arabist who completed a Master's in Economics in International Development in Cairo.
The Studienstiftung has been running the programme since 1991 together with the Haniel Foundation, which also finances it.
In European countries 1,200 euros, in Great Britain, the USA and most non-European countries 1,500 euros.
Tuition fees paid for a maximum of 2 years: in the USA up to 14,000 euros/year, in the UK up to 12,000 euros/year and in all other countries up to 10,000 euros/year
One-off entry fee of 500 euros
One-off travel allowance of 1,000 euros
The specific study project is to be formulated by the applicant him/herself. It should reflect his or her interest in economic issues. Admission to the desired university as well as preparations for the internship are the responsibility of the applicant.
The application deadline is 15 October each year. After a pre-selection, applicants are invited to selection interviews in February or March of the following year.
