Overview

The Earth and Planetary Science, Environment program at PSL Research University is designed to meet the urgent need for a new generation of geoscientists capable of quantitatively assessing and understanding the intricate workings of Earth's systems. These systems, composed of solid and fluid components, interact across diverse temporal and spatial scales, creating complex dynamics that are crucial to our understanding of the planet. The program aims to equip scientists with the foundational knowledge necessary to explore how matter and energy are exchanged between these systems, addressing critical societal challenges such as natural hazards (earthquakes, floods, cyclones, space weather), climate change, resource management (water, energy, minerals), and pollution of our soil, water, and atmosphere.

Learning Outcomes

The Master’s program offers a rigorous and comprehensive education in earth sciences, atmospheric and climate science, oceanography, and biogeoscience. It is designed to provide students with a robust quantitative and disciplinary foundation, preparing them to engage actively in future geoscientific research and contribute to industrial innovation and R&D.
