University of New Hampshire’s Mechanical Engineering master’s program in mechanical engineering allows you to tailor the experience to your specific career goals and sets you up for success thanks to our faculty of award-winning researchers and world-class facilities, including the largest boundary-layer wind tunnel in the world.


At University of New Hampshire, the Mechanical Engineering M.Eng. program will enable you to complete advanced coursework in one or more specialized concentrations including fluid dynamics and thermal science, mechanics, materials science, design and manufacturing, dynamic systems and control, and ocean engineering. 

In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to complete a research project in one of these areas. Alternatively, students who are able to document significant, equivalent work experience can petition to waive the project and take an additional 900-level graduate course.

Programme Structure

Courses include: 
  • A “B” average (3.00 GPA) with no grade below “B-­” is required in all the coursework. No more than 12 credit hours from UNH graduate courses (8 credit hours from non-UNH graduate courses) taken prior to admission to the Graduate School may be applied to the master's degree. 
  • A written report and an oral presentation of the project are required. The format of the project report is determined by the candidate’s research adviser. Master of Engineering students are usually not eligible for a research or teaching assistantship.
  • All full-time graduate students are required to attend a weekly Mechanical Engineering Graduate Seminar and make one presentation per year.
