Overview
The Philosophy programme of the University of Amsterdam is the most inclusive of its kind in the Netherlands. It covers a wide range of topics and has a strong international focus. The programme familiarises students with one or more sub-areas of philosophy and explores both Anglo-Saxon and European philosophy. You will acquire the skills to formulate, analyse and discuss philosophical problems, as well as to formulate and present targeted research questions within a broader research plan.
Careers
Graduates of the Master's programme Philosophy will be versed in one or more of the sub-areas of philosophy and will have the skills to formulate, analyse and discuss philosophical problems. The programme prepares students for a career in teaching, journalism or any of the other writing professions, as well as for a variety of advisory and managerial positions in public organisations and government institutions.

General requirements
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from an accredited university;
- You completed the extended minor in Philosophy (60 ECTS) at the University of Amsterdam;
You completed 60 ECTS or equivalent in philosophy courses and can show that these jointly meet the following requirements:
- The course topics covered at least two philosophical sub-disciplines (i.e. Logic, Ethics, Philosophy of Language, Political Philosophy, Aesthetics, Philosophy of Science, etc.).
- Some of the philosophy courses followed were of an advanced academic level.
- At least one course required the writing of a thesis or an academic paper of at least 3,500 words.
