Mechanical Engineering deals with power and the design of machines and processes used to generate power and to apply it to useful purposes. These machines and system/process designs may be simple or complex, inexpensive or expensive, luxuries or essentials.

 Items such as kitchen food mixer, the automobile, heating/air-conditioning systems, nuclear power plants, practical autonomous and teleoperated robotics, and interplanetary space vehicles would not be available today were it not for the mechanical engineer. Important areas in which mechanical engineers work at this time also have to do with the use of solar, wind, and tidal energy and of cogeneration from wastes for domestic and industrial uses.

The Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program at Texas A&M University - Kingsville prepares graduate students:

  • with fundamental concepts as well as practical knowledge of modern engineering,
  • for immediate engineering challenges and scholarly or professional advancement, and
  • with an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities, including economic, environmental, and societal aspects.
  •  The Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering is a thesis path or project path program that requires the completion of 30 or 36 semester hours of graduate work.

    GRE admission requirements GRE® The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. It contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.
    GMAT admission requirements GMAT The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a test intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA. GMAT contains 4 sections - Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal. The score has a range from 200 - 800.

The score refers to a total score which ranges between 10 and 90.
