About

The Master of Education degree in Secondary Education at Xavier University is based on a foundation of liberal arts education that enhances the knowledge base for currently licensed teachers and other education stakeholders. The degree can also be completed in conjunction with an initial teacher licensure program.

Overview

The Secondary Education Program offers degree programs approved by the Ohio Department of High Education and licensure programs at Xavier University approved by the Ohio Department of Education.

All programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)

At the undergraduate level, Secondary Education Programs offer a professional education minor that leads to a teaching license. Students also complete a licensure content area major and are awarded either a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. Graduate students can apply for the X-ALT program which leads to initial licensure for career changing professionals.
