Overview
Students are participants in a rich, hybrid program which includes coursework that is both in person and virtually via a synchronous format, complemented by authentic field experiences in their school and classroom. Those who are not already employed as a teacher will be placed in secondary classroom setting(s) for informative field experiences that deeply connect to coursework at the University of Indianapolis.
A highly-skilled university instructional coach will support your field experiences along with a mentor teacher to ensure that you gain the knowledge and skills to become a most-effective secondary content teacher. By enrolling in courses each semester, students can complete the program in 15 months to earn an initial teaching license and may immediately articulate in a handful of courses to finish a full masters degree. Thus, the Teaching - Transition to Masters (T2M) designation.
Features
This program is intent on building a vibrant community of practice to support students as they progress through the program. Mentoring will occur horizontally across your community of practice group, with your experienced teacher education faculty and vertically with 20 years of UIndy masters students who have gone before you.
