Built on the experiences of various faculty members who were involved and active in cultural diplomacy and scientific projects, the Public and Cultural Diplomacy programme taught at University of Siena is made up of students with diverse backgrounds, from social sciences to the humanities.

About

The Public and Cultural Diplomacy programme offered by the University of Siena aims to improve student’s knowledge in the field of new international relations and cooperation.

At the center of the program are two themes: the role of intercultural negotiation and the construction of institutions and, cultural policies at an international level.

The main disciplines are history, political science, cultural heritage in certain areas such as the Mediterranean, geography, economic development, and international law. These complimentary disciplines encourage diverse educational experiences: on one hand, knowledge and skills from experts in public diplomacy and conflict resolution, on the other hand, professional training in cultural institutions at an international level.

The Master’s program is based on the “Science for development cooperation” style, with a strong emphasis on international studies, and is approached in a significantly different way to already existing programs.

Particular attention will be paid to fieldwork, educational seminars for developing practical competencies for this type of program, and the final exam.
