About

Public historians are trained to explain past human behavior in a variety of different contexts. It is history that is seen through museum exhibits, internet websites, documentaries, books, articles and audio-visual presentations

The Master of Arts in Public History is a 36-credit-hour program that offers students optimal guidance in theory and practice. Courses are scheduled in the evening, allowing students the opportunity to continue working while they pursue the degree.

Outside the classroom, students participate in community-based projects, giving them the opportunity to build a strong, professional portfolio. A capstone project serves as the culminating experience.

As part of their methodological training, Public History students participate in community-based projects that serve a dual purpose. The projects help an organization fulfill its mission while also giving students an opportunity to hone much needed work skills.
