Overview

We offer a master degree in Mathematics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In addition to advanced coursework in mathematics, students take a comprehensive examination, and they complete a project or thesis developed in consultation with the student's graduate advisor and graduate advisory committee.

Outcomes for the Successful Graduate

Qualifications of Graduates: Graduates of the program will be qualified to do the following:

Advanced research in mathematics or a closely related field.

Continue on to Ph.D. work in mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics.

Teach courses in mathematics or subjects with high mathematical content (e.g. introductory statistics) at the post-secondary (two-year college) level.

Work in industry in applications of mathematics.

Apply online. Applications must be received before the published deadlines, along with a $75 nonrefundable application fee. Applications submitted after the published deadlines are only accepted upon a department's request and have a $100 nonrefundable application fee.

Complete UAF’s financial statement form and provide supporting documentation showing adequate funding to cover all expenses at UAF.1
