The School for the Environment (SFE) offers a variety of programs designed to provide students with graduate coursework, research, and professional skills. The PhD and MS degree programs are interdisciplinary by design. The curricula for the programs are constructed to integrate principles, concepts, and methods from the natural and social sciences to provide students with a real-world context and understanding of the links between human societies and the ecological systems of which they are a part.

Accordingly, the work of SFE faculty and students is global by its very nature. In addition to thesis and project oriented graduate degree programs, SFE now offers two professional science masters™ degrees. Admission to these programs is competitive and many students who gain admission qualify for tuition waivers and teaching assistantships with support from the university and a variety of external funding sources.
