Overview

In the Aerospace Engineering program at San José State University, students have opportunities to work with AE faculty and NASA engineers to design, build, test, and launch microsatellites like the TechEdSat, participate in the design, building, and testing of our brand new hypersonic facility, learn how to use machine/deep learning for structural health monitoring, optimize spacecraft trajectories or explore the potential of electric and hybrid propulsion systems for general aviation, commuter, and large air transports.

Careers

Graduates can end up working with faculty and NASA engineers to design, build and launch microsatellites, perform tests in our hypersonic facility, use machine learning to monitor the health of aerospace structures, optimize spacecraft trajectories or design the airplanes of the future.

Students with a BSAE degree from a US ABET accredited institution and a GPA greater than 3.0 are normally admitted as Classified.

Students with a BSAE degree and GPA less than 3.0 may be admitted Conditionally. The condition of their admission into the MSAE Program is that they will take two AE courses, selected in consultation with the AE Graduate Coordinator, and earn a grade of B or better in each.
