Health Education teaches you how to evaluate and improve community health and make use of outreach programmes and techniques that encourage people to live healthier.
During a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Health Education, you can expect to take classes on health behaviour, injury prevention, first aid, mental and emotional health, nutrition, fitness, sexuality education, drug education, etc.
As a future Health Education specialist, you will positively impact people’s lives by promoting healthy behaviours. You will operate community health evaluations and tailor outreach programmes that improve community health to the community’s needs. The aim is to prevent injuries, illnesses, or even premature deaths among community members.
In addition to solid Biology and Medical knowledge, successful Health Education specialists also master communication, public speaking, presentation, planning, and negotiation skills, among others.
After graduating with a Health Education degree, you can work for educational institutions, private companies and organisations, or government agencies. Other related job titles include diabetes educator, health programme analyst, case manager, community organiser, etc.
