University of Lodz

The highly respected University of Lodz is one of the leading institutions of higher education in Poland. For decades it has been also one of the biggest and most popular Polish universities. It was established in 1945 as a successor of educational institutions active in Lodz in earlier times. The 12 faculties of the University provide programmes in 38 fields of study and 160 specializations.

History

Founded in 1945, it now has 12 faculties. At our University, we enjoy an international atmosphere – our students come from about 80 different countries. We also host the famous School of Polish for Foreigners – the oldest and most recognized institution of this kind in Poland.

Library services

The University Library is one of the biggest and most modern academic libraries in Poland. At present, its total collection amounts to 3 million volumes. The University provides access to a state-of-the-art Sports Centre. Apart from abundant opportunities for social life (countless pubs), the students can join about 120 societies, scientific clubs, associations and other academic organizations.

Campus life

The University has 10 dormitories with a capacity of over 4,000, which are situated in a wide campus area called Lumumbowo, packed with greenery and resembling a park. The university campus offers modern rooms within walking distance from most faculty buildings.
