Education
The School of Politics and International Relations is a recognised centre of excellence in teaching and offers:
- degrees across the areas of international relations, government and political thought
- a wide range of module choice within each degree programme, permitting students to specialise as they progress through their course
- joint undergraduate degree programmes such as history and politics, and politics and American studies
- postgraduate taught degree programmes containing interdisciplinary components such as diplomacy or war and contemporary conflict
- an impressive array of talks to which students are invited, including practising politicians, journalists and policy-makers as visiting speakers
Research
The School of Politics and International Relations' research engages with the most fundamental political questions of our time. Our research activity is organised around the school's centres and institutes. This framework provides an integrative and dynamic environment for staff to pursue individual and collective research projects.
Career
Our graduates develop careers across the private, public, and charitable sectors, including journalism, broadcasting, advertising, marketing and personnel. Some go into party politics as parliamentary assistants, councillors in local government, and even MPs; others work for the civil service and in research and data analysis.
