Research
The Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 ranked 86.8% of Heriot-Watt's research as world-leading and internationally excellent.Our REF results firmly place us alongside the UK's best in our core disciplines of science and engineering, business and management, languages and design.Our new Putrajaya campus creates a platform for the creation of partnerships with other local universities through which we can deliver research studentships and other funded research activities. We also hope to work with Universities and other Higher Education Institutions in the surrounding region, particularly with those from ASEAN countries.

The Student Service Centre provides the administrative support for the registry functions and academic programmes. Staff provide guidance on a range of academic matters to ensure that students receive the right information. Main responsibilities include:

Housing services
Heriot-Watt University Malaysia has recently introduced an on-campus student accommodation at Antara Residence, Putrajaya. Situated just 1 km from our campus, these modern three-bedroom apartments provide an ideal living space for students. Off-campus student accommodation options are provided in Cyberjaya and Putrajaya, about 10-15 minutes drive from the campus. A complimentary shuttle bus operates between the student residences and the campus and there is also easy access to public transportation.All residences offer modern and spacious living accommodation. Each residence has a warden who is there to help you settle in and sort out any problems along the way.
Library services
The two-storey library has been planned to cater for the different learning styles and preferences of students.The 365 room is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. This is provided for students who wish to study late on campus and basic kitchen facilities are available.All Heriot-Watt students globally receive access to roughly 50,000 electronic journals, 270 databases and 71,000 e-books.
ICT services
Students are supported in their learning with IT facilities including industry relevant software and the virtual learning environment (VLE). The VLE is a web-based integrated teaching and learning tool.
Campus life
Heriot-Watt University Malaysia's campus is based in the modern garden-city of Putrajaya just 25km south of Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur. Putrajaya is a growing, dynamic city and its proximity allows easy access to the extensive cultural, leisure and retail amenities of the buzzing metropolis.Putrajaya provides a high quality of life in a new, forward-thinking urban centre. It is a great choice of city for students with excellent facilities, modern infrastructure and transport links. As it's based in the Multimedia Corridor, it also benefits from a highly efficient broadband network. It is developing as an attractive centre of learning for both local and international students and a vibrant student population is steadily growing in the city.
Sports facilities
There are many sports and recreational facilities in Putrajaya, which offer special rates and discounts to Heriot-Watt students. The sports complex in Precinct 18 provides both outdoor and indoor sports facilities, with many of the sport facilities being free of charge on weekdays. The water sports complex at Precinct 6 boasts an Olympic-size swimming pool and other facilities. There is an Extreme Challenge Park at Precinct 5 as well as the many public parks which provide excellent recreation and picnic spots for students.
Student clubs
Student clubs and societies are a great way to meet new people and make friends with other students from around the world. There are a number of clubs and societies which are actively seeking new student members. Clubs are run by students, for students and are an excellent way to get involved and enrich your university life.
