History
The Europa-Institut at Saarland University is the second oldest institution of its kind in Europe. It was founded in 1951 and for more than six decades now, the Europa-Institut has been excellently educating young academics from all over the world in European and international law.
Education
The composition of both our student body and our lecturers emphasizes the internationality of the Europa-Institut. Each academic year, renowned lecturers from all over the world teach students from over 30 different countries. This diversity of nationalities allows for a polyglot and cross-cultural environment that extends beyond the study program into our alumni organization, EVER.
Research
Combined with the optimal learning environment - exemplified by our excellently equipped library and the therein established European Documentation Center (EDC), which contains all official publications of the European Union - and the ideal location of the Institute in the border triangle France-Luxembourg-Germany, the Master's program "European and International Law" offers regular excursions to cities of European significance and excellent conditions for embarking upon a European and international career.
Career
The careers service offers individual counseling and service concerning both practical aspects of the program and future professional options and perspectives. It serves as the meeting point between students and the professional world and aims at preparing our students for positions in law firms, administrations, and European Institutions or in the business world. The careers service closely cooperates with EVER e.V., the alumni organization of the Europa-Institut.

The Europa-Institut team supports students in all matters, not
only within the framework of the academic program, but also
in the organization of their daily life in Saarbrücken. Regular
excursions to European and international institutions as well
as extracurricular offers such as a Christmas party, a tour
through Saarbrücken at the beginning of the academic year
and a graduation ceremony at the end of it form an international team
out of the students. They often stay in contact long after their
studies at the Europa-Institut, i.e. through the international
network of the alumni association EVER e.V.
Library services
The Europa-Institut library focuses on European and international law and its collection encompasses a great selection of diverse legal publications.
