Mount Saint Vincent University

Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) is committed to being a model of creative teaching and research that nurtures socially responsible global citizens. With a unique blend of passion and individuality, MSVU is a university with unparalleled social impact at home, across the country and around the world.

About

History

Established in 1873 by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, Halifax (as the order was known at the time), Mount Saint Vincent was one of the few institutions of higher education for women and girls in Canada at a time when women could not vote. The original purpose of the academy was to train novices and young sisters as teachers, but the Sisters also recognized a need to educate other young women.

Education

With our unique collection of programs, undergraduate research opportunities and some of the smallest class sizes in Canada, you’re sure to find the right path for you at MSVU.

 • We offer the only four-year bachelor’s degree program in Public Relations in Canada.
 • Our Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Study is the only one of its kind in the Atlantic region.
 • We have the only freestanding Cultural Studies program in Atlantic Canada.
 • MSVU was the first university in Canada to establish a program dedicated to Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Research

Funded in part by the Research Support Fund, Mount Saint Vincent University’s Research Office supports faculty research and scholarship through ongoing consultation and regular outreach. Research services include such activities as grant writing and development, communication and storytelling, guidance on satisfying ethics in research practice, and partnering to support successful research initiatives.

Career

We are nationally recognized among undergraduate universities in Canada for our success in Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grants and for having one of the lowest student-to-professor ratios. Faculty and staff at the Mount are committed to providing the best university experience for all members of our community and to developing thoughtful, engaged citizens who make a positive impact on their world. It is our esteemed history and blend of passion and individuality that attracts outstanding faculty, staff and over 4,000 students from around the world.

My Few Weeks Experience at the Mount
Queen Iheanacho rated 5 out of 5 stars

The Mount takes cognizance of every student. It has a small sized class of 20 students for the graduate levels and this means your lecturers will know you by name and ready to help you grow academically. Generally, the Mount hs conducive learning environment to keep you fit throughout the years of your study ranging from health, physical fitness, food provision, learning...

Decent university
Kartik rated 3 out of 5 stars

Mount Saint Vincent University is basically a hotspot of small town canadians and majority Indians being there from small towns and villages with that lack of mental competence and etiquette otherwise it's a alright university
Review provided by EDUopinions (www.eduopinions.com)
