Overview
As you earn your Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, you will pursue one area of concentration:
- Education of the Blind or Visually Impaired
- Education of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing: Our next MEd program will tentatively begin in April 2022. Check back regularly for information about when we will begin to accept applications.
- Evaluation: Our MEd programs are under review. We are not currently accepting applications to this program concentration.
- Human Relations: Our MEd programs are under review. We are not currently accepting applications to this program concentration.
Your Career
Our degrees will help you to develop your career as a classroom teacher, an itinerant teacher, or an educational consultant with learners who are blind/visually impaired or deaf/hard of hearing, an educator outside the public school system, or an educational administrator by obtaining advanced knowledge and skills in a concentrated area within the field of Educational Psychology.
Graduates of the Educational Psychology program at Mount Saint Vincent University are working as classroom, itinerant, and community teachers, educators in the corporate, government, arts and not-for-profit sectors, consultants, administrators, scholars, and university and college instructors.

General requirements
- Minimum requirements for admission to the human relations and evaluation concentrations are a bachelor’s degree and evidence of one year successful teaching or equivalent professional experience. For those teaching in the public school system, a BEd or its equivalent is also required.
- Minimum requirements for admission to the concentrations for the education of the blind or visually impaired and for the education of the deaf or hard of hearing are a Bachelor of Education or equivalent and one year successful teaching experience in the public school system. For teachers with previous training in the education of students who are blind, visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing, a thesis option is available.
- Only students who show the potential to perform well in graduate studies, normally a minimum average of B (GPA 3.0) and positive letters of recommendation will be considered for admission.
