Life at campus
Studying Agricultural Economics and Resource Management at Moi University was a journey of academic growth, personal development, and real-life exposure. The program combined core principles of economics, agriculture, and resource management, offering me both theoretical depth and practical experience crucial for addressing agricultural and environmental challenges in Kenya and beyond. The curriculum was well-structured, with courses in econometrics, farm management, agricultural policy, and natural resource economics. Our lecturers were knowledgeable and supportive, and the research and fieldwork components provided valuable hands-on learning. Internships and community-based projects allowed me to interact with real agricultural systems and policies on the ground. However, life at Moi University wasn't without its challenges. Off-campus life was often tough — poor road conditions, unreliable transport, and limited access to essential services made daily living difficult. Weather extremes, power outages, and occasional water shortages added to the struggle, especially for students living in rented rooms far from campus. The tough conditions tested our resilience, but also taught us independence, adaptability, and the value of hard work. Yet, there were also good moments. The vibrant student life, supportive friendships, cultural diversity, and the serene natural environment around campus made life outside the lecture halls enjoyable. Social activities, clubs, and group discussions provided a healthy balance to academic pressure. Despite the ups and downs, my time at Moi University shaped me into a well-rounded professional. The degree prepared me not just academically, but for life — to thrive in both ideal and imperfect conditions. I am proud of this journey and the strength it built in me.
