Dedicated Professors Friendly Peers
I love it here! All professors are truly dedicated to their work and they make an effort to help students succeed! I couldn't ask for more. I especially like the psychology program here at Oglethorpe. The students are also very friendly.
Tight Knit
Life at Oglethorpe is a very tight knit community. Coming from a previous private-liberal arts college in Los Angeles, it is similar. Everyone knows everyone's business on campus so be careful. However, it is close to downtown Atlanta and has a very great location, plenty of things to do in the area. Campus buildings are okay for the most part, a couple are 1800's style which look beautiful. Parking is trash as with most colleges. The main great aspect to Oglethorpe are the professors, I have not came across a professor here who wasn't at the very least somewhat personable. Overall, it is your typical small private university but has great professors in my experience and its location is amazing. Overall: 7.5/10 rating
Great staff, quiet social scene
The faculty and staff are great, the administration is chaotic, and not a lot of parties or things to do around campus. My program was pretty solid, but it's not as great if you're looking for a big social scene.
Student services
Sometimes life can be tough; we get that. The Counseling Center has skilled professionals on campus to support our students through life’s challenges. Our counselors are experienced with issues like stress, anxiety, depression and eating disorders. And if you just want to talk, they can do that, too.
Housing services
We’re all working together to build a close-knit community of quirky, kind, and talented individuals with a million different interests. Residence life is a huge part of that experience, so all students live on campus for three years, and some choose to stay until they graduate.
All seven residence halls are designed with student comfort in mind. You can count on having a cozy place to study, socialize, and sleep. (Or do a load of laundry, for free. Or gather in the game room. Or get together with a study group. Or…)
Library services
Campus Store - You’ll find a lot more than books in our campus store! Grab a snack, school supplies, gift cards, Oglethorpe spirit wear and more!
ICT services
Every residence hall room, faculty office, and appropriate staff office has a connection to the Oglethorpe computer network and, through that intranet, to the greater world of the internet with all its resources. Access is also available to students through computers located in the Philip Weltner Library, the Turner Lynch Campus Center, and in Goslin Hall.
Medical services
Our heahcare partner is SmartCare Urgent Care, located right next to our campus on Peachtree Rd.
Campus life
Oglethorpe’s campus is private and enclosed, with secured access for faculty, students, and staff. Residence halls require keycard access, so only approved visitors can enter.
The campus is monitored 24/7 by our campus safety officers. If you ever need help, just ask one of them. They’ll be happy to escort you across campus at night or locate a lost item.
Sports facilities
- There's the famous Hermance Stadium, which dates back to the 1920's and whose gates were once hailed as the most beautiful stadium gates in the country.
- Dorough Field House is home to men's and women's basketball and volleyball.
- In 2013, Oglethorpe Track and Field added a brand new lacrosse field with synthetic turf surface. The track is also newly renovated.
- The Stephen Schmidt Sport and Recreation Center is home to state-of-the-art fitness and training equipment, helping all students stay in shape and stay at the top of their game.
Student clubs
Your college experience is so much more than what you learn in the classroom. Get engaged and learn to lead with Student Activities, Greek Life, Orientation, Campus Recreation and much more!
