About

History

Founded in 1825 and affiliated with the United Methodist Church, it is the oldest chartered liberal arts college west of the Mississippi River.

Education

In pursuit of these ideals, the College challenges its students throughout their education to write and speak clearly; to read, listen, and think critically; to comprehend, interpret, and synthesize ideas; to analyze information qualitatively and quantitatively; to appreciate the diversity of human cultures; to respect the value of artistic expression; and to recognize the importance of a healthy mind and body and the interdependence of people and the environment.

Research

Students and faculty work together to build a community focused on ethical and intellectual development, respect and concern for human and spiritual values, and the joy of creativity and discovery.

Services

Housing services

All residence hall rooms at Centenary start with the basics: an extra-long single/twin bed, a chest of drawers, a desk, and a chair. But once students put their personal touches on the space, no two rooms are alike.

Library services

The John F. Magale Library offers a wide range of resources for students, alumni and community members. Magale Library is committed to offering excellent service while adhering to Centenary College’s overall mission. While promoting the high standards and principles of Centenary, Magale strives to remain the center of information and research for all its students and faculty.

ICT services

In the lobbies, computer labs, and other common spaces in the residence halls, students gather for hall programs, study groups, and impromptu discussions both serious and silly.

Student Life

Campus life

The sixty-five-acre Centenary College of Louisiana campus, two miles south of downtown Shreveport, is widely known for its natural beauty and stately Georgian architecture. Most campus facilities are available for your event or activity.

Sports facilities

The Centenary Fitness Center provides opportunities for physical, social, and educational development through participation in physical activity. We take fun seriously and we know it's important that everyone in the Centenary and local community has a great time at our facility here on Centenary's campus.
